Attraction Review: Hollywood Studios

Centred all around the famous Hollywood, Disney goes back to all out theme park for it’s third park of our travels. Here you will find all things Hollywood, from film to music to celebrities, each is presented in this park. Whilst a lot smaller than most other theme parks in this city with most people having done everything after just over half a day, there is still loads to get your teeth into.

For a start, this place is a dream world for Star Wars fans. Since Disney bought the rights to the popular franchise series a few years ago, Star Wars has made a comeback onto our screens. Now that it’s massively popular once again, everybody who was kids for the first load of films, the second generation who were kids for the second trilogy, can now let their children lose their minds, especially in this part of Disney, because the majority of the park is themed around Star Wars. From the March of the First Order, to the several themed rides/attractions and the massive Star Wars launch bay which is home to some incredible memorabilia, there is something here for everyone.

In the two previous Disney reviews, the main drawback for both was the quality of the rides. For those worrying about not getting their thrills from Disney then rest assured, this is the park for the ride lovers. The Rock n Roller Coaster is without shadow of a doubt THE best ride in Disney all together. I’m not even a fan of Aerosmith but this was one of the highlights of all the Disney parks, just because the rollercoaster is that good. The Star Tours ride is also really cool, trying to escape in a ship from Darth Vader guided by 3P0, and for those strange people who love rides that shoot you up and down really fast (not a fan), you have The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror which is one of the best talked about rides as well.

The main drawback here is the size of the park. We had done everything halfway through the day and that was with repeating a few bits as well. A lot of people combine it with another park but we chose to combine it with Disney Springs which is essentially the place that has all the shops and themed restaurants. Almost like the village you’d expect to go through before reaching the parks (like in Paris).

The upside to this is that a lot is on the way. This summer is the opening of the new Toy Story land which will add another crucial dimension to the park and hopefully a set of more fantastic rides/rollercoasters. The addition of more Star Wars stuff has been talked about as well, so it appears that Disney is trying to add a bit more to this park to allow people to spend a full day here without getting bored. Until that point though, it only remains a good park.

Rating – 3.5 Stars
